Meeting Minutes - 1/5/25

NCWCA Board Meeting – January 5, 2025 – Virtual Meeting

Board Members Present: Chase Holloman, Mark Harris, Byron Sigmon, Tripp Rogers, Jamie Belk, Jed Cox, David Perry, Butch Ross, Jacob Tutterow.

Coach Belk facilitated the meeting to finalize details for the girls’ dual team invitational and select a recipient for this year’s Bill Mayhew “Legacy in Wrestling” Award.

Girl’s Duals Update: Date is set for 1/18/25.  AL Brown will host the larger schools.  Parkwood will host the small schools.  Hosts have the option to wrestle one day or two days and will seek input from qualifiers along with gym availability to decide which option is best. Coach Belk will reach out to Rankwrestlers to ensure Rank is properly updated and that wrestlers out for three weeks or more won’t count towards rankings. Coach Uy is working with the hosts and qualifying teams to prepare for the Girl’s Dual tournaments.

All Star Meet: As our association is now organizing the Girl’s Dual championships, we are no longer administering the All Star meet.  The Coaches Association will continue to support this but will not be organizing this.  

Legacy in Wrestling Award:  The Bill Mayhew “Legacy in Wrestling” award will be presented on Saturday Feb. 22 at the state tournament.  The 2025 recipient was unanimously agreed upon by the Board.

Board Elections – July 2025: Board seats will be voted in this summer.  Coaches who plan to run for a seat need to have dues paid in full to be eligible to run in the upcoming election.

Next Meeting – Feb. 22, 2025. In person at the state tournament on Saturday morning during weigh ins.  Coach Belk will reach out to the NCHSAA to join us.
