Meeting Minutes - 5/30/21

Zoom Meeting - 7:00 PM - Sunday May 30, 2021

·        Board members present for call:  Uy, Harris, Perry, Holleman, Clark, Carey.

·        Purpose of meeting was to discuss Board elections.  No elections were held in 2020 due to COVID

·        Bylaws must be Amended to expand the Board. Coaches agreed by 94.1% in 2019 to expand from 10 to 12 members.

·        Heang Uy moves to president for two years.  Eddy Clark is not running again for a Board seat.  Mike Carey will run for another 4-year term.  Jamie Belk is being nominated for VP and Billy Baker is undecided about running again.  With the Board expansion, five seats will be available in the upcoming election.

·        David, Ben, Mark, Chase, and Butch still have two years remaining on the Board.

·        Bylaws also need to be amended to add non-voting regional reps to the Board. This was approved by a 79.6% margin in 2019.  David confirmed he will take the lead in appointing regional representatives to the Board.

·         The Greensboro rules clinic is no longer required for coaches.  Greensboro is where the Board has its annual meeting and where we’ve always held elections.  The Board agreed to move voting online for elections.  Bylaws should be changed to reflect this change and members will need to approve the revised bylaws.

·         Mark volunteered to update the bylaws and Heang will reach out to Tra for an updated contact list. The revised bylaws will be sent to the Board for approval and then to all NC coaches for approval using a Google Form survey.

·         The Board agreed to use regional seeding meetings to nominate candidates willing to run for a seat on the Board.

·        David suggested that after 2021 only dues paying members be allowed to vote.  Board members present unanimously agreed.

·        There was brief discussion about weight class changes and getting information from coaches about weight class options.  As this will not be decided until after 2022, we agreed to take this up at a future meeting.
